๐ Getting Started
Creating your first tracker
On the home screen, tap "New Tracker". You'll be asked to choose a type: Regular Tracker (you log entries manually) or Location Tracker (entries are logged automatically when you arrive at a place). For a regular tracker, give it a name, choose an icon and colour, then add Details โ the fields you fill in each time you log. Tap "Create" when done.
Setting up a Location Tracker
Tap "New Tracker" โ "Location Tracker". Name it, pick an icon and colour, then use the map to search for an address or long-press to drop a pin. LogDaily will request "Allow While Using App" location permission the first time. Once created, the app monitors that location in the background and automatically creates one entry per day whenever you arrive within 150 m of the pin โ no tapping needed. You can have as many Location Trackers as you like.
Using the Apple Watch app
The LogDaily Watch app shows all your trackers with today's entry counts. Tap once on a tracker to open a quick-entry form where you can fill in details before saving. Double-tap to instantly log a default entry without opening a form. The Watch syncs automatically with your iPhone whenever the two are in range; no manual action is needed.
Logging an entry
Tap any tracker tile on the home screen to open the quick-entry form. Fill in your details and tap "Save". The tile's count updates immediately. The whole thing takes about five seconds. Location Trackers log automatically โ you don't need to tap them.
Viewing your history
Tap the โบ arrow on any tracker tile to open its detail view. From here you can browse the entry list, view a heatmap calendar, or see charts. Switch between views using the segmented control at the top.
Editing or deleting entries
In the List tab, tap an entry to edit it. Swipe left on an entry to reveal the delete button. Tap Select to choose multiple entries at once.
Exporting your data
For a single tracker's CSV: open the tracker โ Settings tab โ Export CSV.
For all data as JSON: home screen โ โโ icon โ Export All.
โ Frequently Asked Questions
Does LogDaily sync between my iPhone and iPad?
No. LogDaily stores data locally on one device only. There is no iCloud sync, no cross-device sync, and no account system. If you want to transfer data to a new device, use Export All (JSON) on your old device and Import on the new one.
Will my data survive if I update the App?
Yes. App updates do not delete your data. The App's data store persists through App Store updates. However, we recommend exporting a JSON backup periodically as a precaution.
What happens to my data if I delete the App?
Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all its data, including trackers, entries, and any CSV files in the App's Documents folder. Export a backup before uninstalling if you want to preserve your data.
Does the App work without an internet connection?
Yes, completely. LogDaily makes no network connections and works fully offline at all times. No internet access is required for any feature.
Can I rename a Detail after I've already logged entries?
Yes. In the tracker's Settings tab, tap the Detail name to rename it. Existing entries still show the correct data because entries reference Details by their unique ID, not by name.
What does "Archive Detail" do?
Archiving hides a Detail from new entry forms while keeping it visible in existing entries. Use this instead of deleting a Detail when you want to stop tracking it going forward but keep historical data readable.
Where are my CSV files stored?
CSV files are automatically saved to the App's Documents folder, visible in Files app โ On My iPhone โ LogDaily. They are stored on your device only, never uploaded anywhere.
Can I import data I previously exported?
Yes. Go to the home screen โ โโ icon โ Import, then select a JSON file you previously exported. You can choose to merge with existing trackers or replace them. CSV import is not supported. Use JSON to transfer data between devices.
Does LogDaily have an Apple Watch app?
Yes. The Apple Watch companion app shows all your trackers with today's entry counts. You can double-tap any tracker for instant one-tap logging, or tap once to open a full entry form with detail fields. The Watch app syncs automatically with your iPhone over Bluetooth/Wi-Fi via WatchConnectivity โ no internet connection is required. The Watch app is included free with LogDaily and installs automatically when you have the iPhone app.
How does the Location Tracker work?
A Location Tracker uses iOS geofencing to monitor a specific place (a 150-metre radius around a pin you drop on a map). When your iPhone detects that you have entered that area, LogDaily automatically creates one entry for that day. This works even when the App is not open, as long as iOS hasn't restricted background location access. The feature requires "Always Allow" or "Allow While Using App" location permission โ you'll be prompted the first time you create a Location Tracker.
Does the Location Tracker send my location anywhere?
No. Location data never leaves your device. The coordinates you pin are saved locally in the App's database (alongside your other tracker data), and geofence monitoring is performed entirely by iOS on your device. No location data is transmitted to LogDaily servers, Apple, or any third party. The App contains no networking code of its own.
The Location Tracker isn't logging automatically. What should I check?
A few things to check: (1) In Settings โ Privacy โ Location Services โ LogDaily, ensure permission is set to "Always" โ "While Using" may not trigger in the background reliably. (2) Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled for LogDaily in iOS Settings. (3) iOS may delay or batch geofence events when Low Power Mode is on. (4) Geofencing requires iOS to have a recent location fix โ in areas with poor GPS coverage, delivery may be delayed. If the issue persists, try deleting and recreating the Location Tracker.
Is there an iPad or Mac version?
LogDaily is currently an iPhone app with an Apple Watch companion. There are no plans for a dedicated iPad or macOS version at this time.
Is the App free? Are there in-app purchases?
Yes, the App is completely free with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no advertising of any kind. It is a personal hobby project shared freely.
The App crashed or something isn't working. What should I do?
First, try force-quitting the App and relaunching it. If the issue persists, try restarting your iPhone. If you are still experiencing problems, please send a description of the issue (what you did and what happened) using the contact method below. Include your iOS version and iPhone model if possible.
